Plantation 5 Year Rum : Our Personal Take

Plantation 5 Year Rum was a regular mixer because of the sweetness in the blend, however we tried it with a couple cubes of ice and were surprised at how good of a sipping rum we had overlooked in the past. The juxtaposition of that startling sweetness on the palate and the strong burn on the finish keep us coming back for another sip.

The welcome vanilla in the tongue and the vibrant rum flavor on the swallow, it makes for a good sipping rum. Plantation 5 Year Rum won’t break any rules of not mixing a dated bottle; (five year blend is hardly old) but there is enough there to take this bottle off of the mix-only shelf and allow it to enjoy a glass over ice alone.
