Unfortunately, we live in a world of marketing and customer perceptions. Once the mainstream rum reviewers jumped on the train calling Bumbu Rum Original Craft Rum an inferior sipper, we see the release of Bumbu XO Rum, a darker, richer, and more flavorful older sister to the Original Craft bottles.

We’re not convinced there was anything exactly “wrong” with the original, but the Bumbu XO Rum is most certainly a step up in the world of sipping rums. No, whatever you feel about their earlier entries in to the dipping run world, the Bumbu XO Rum is a valid entry on its own merits, a strong candidate for a sweet sipping rum that will enhance your experience. Whether you are enjoining this bottle neat or with ice and a fine cigar, Bumbu XO Rum is a good bottle of fine sipping rum that exudes a grand flavor profile that is worthy of standing on its own.
